Excerpt from the Introduction
The nine Founders of Zeta Tau Alpha were intentional about every step they took as they created our Fraternity. To celebrate 125 years of our sisterhood, we created and named this book, Our Shared Purpose, with that same intentionality.
This book belongs to all of us who have chosen to “Seek the Noblest.” It’s ours to explore and cherish and marvel as we learn more about our beloved ZTA.
This book shares images and words from our Historical and Educational Center at International Office in Carmel, Indiana. It provides a glimpse into our unmatched collection of photos and artifacts.
This book, like the center, is rooted in the five central phrases of our Purpose, which first appeared in the charter granted to ZTA by the legislature of Virginia in 1902.
Our Shared Purpose is more than a book; it’s a tribute to the intensified friendships, the spirit of love, the noble opinions, the deeds of service, and the honorable sentiments that have moulded our Fraternity for 125 years.

On Wednesday, April 3, 2024, three members of Zeta Tau Alpha traveled to Marceline, Missouri, to see their hard work become reality. Our Shared Purpose: Honoring 125 Years of Zeta Tau Alpha was viewed printing on a Heidelberg press. The group was able to learn how the press worked, see plates replaced, and examine sheet forms. They then moved to the Cover Department and witnessed hot foil being applied to their cover material. Ending their visit was a tour of the facility where the group observed the various steps involved in the production of a book.
Our Shared Purpose: Honoring 125 Years of Zeta Tau Alpha tells the story of Zeta Tau Alpha through the images and memorabilia housed at their Historical and Education Center at International Office in Indiana.
