The largest and most enduring youth organization in the United States, the Boy Scouts of America has 2.8 million youth members and 1.1 million adult volunteers in the program phases of Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, and Venturing. Since 1910, more than 114 million members have participated in the organization’s traditional programs.
The purpose of Scouting is to build the character and integrity of America’s youth and prepare them to become responsible adults who are good leaders and citizens. Scouting weaves the lifetime values of principled character, participating citizenship, and personal fitness into a fun and exciting program for youth.
